The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
